
The event presented two Gu Tao’s documentary films about Ewenki Aoluguya, Aoluguya and Yuguo and His mother at Tyneside Cinema and Quilliam’s Brothers. This is the first time that Tyneside Cinema, the local arthouse cinema in Newcastle, hosted screenings of Chinese independent films. Ewenki used to live in the primeval forest for hunting and raising reindeer. The Ewenki is recognised as one of the 56 ethnic groups in China and the indigenous peoples of the Russian North.
