Guo Jing

PhD in Ethnic History from Yunnan University, retired scholar from the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences. Former associate researcher at the Tibet Academy of Social Sciences History Institute, director of the History Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, director of the Yunnan Provincial Museum, consultant for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in the United States, training expert for Save the Children in the UK, consultant for Hong Kong Community Partners, and chairman of the Yunnan Rural Eye Local Culture Research Center.

Dedicated to the cultural anthropology of the mountainous regions in western China (ritual performance, sacred mountain beliefs, community environmental knowledge), video production and research, and community environmental protection actions. Participated in the establishment of the ‘Yunnan Multicultural Visual Festival’ (hosted by the Baima Mountain Culture Research Center), the ‘Chinese Ethnographic Documentary Academic Exhibition’ (hosted by the Chinese Ethnic Museum), and the practice of ‘Rural Image Education’. Involved in planning the ‘Chinese Ethnographic Documentary Film Series’ (Yunnan People’s Publishing House) and the ‘Chinese Documentary Image Library’ (Ethnic Publishing House).
