Village Opera History
Release year: 2019
Run time: 83 mins
Film type: Documentary
The 60s witnesses the quick demolition of an old temple followed by the erection of an opera theatre in Shijia village, Shannxi Province, northwest China. Soon after that, a local Qinqiang troupe with a group of banhu players came to this village, performing Qingqiang to the villagers there(a representative folk Chinese opera of Shannxi province)for many years. The powerful and passionate singing of Qingqiang brought together the lives of people there and the theatre stage, and the line between them becomes blurry.
