Synopsis

Wang Lihong, a Beijing netizen, citizen journalist, and volunteer for public service, was charged with "picking quarrels and provoking trouble" for supporting three netizens from Fujian. On August 12, 2011, the case had its first trial at the Wenyuhe Court of Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing. This film interviews Wang Lihong's relatives, friends, defense lawyers, and supportive netizens, documenting the historic scenes of onlookers at the courtroom.

 

Director biography

A feminist professor in Sun Yat-Sen (Zhongshan) University, director of the Comparative Literature Section in Department of Chinese, program leader of Sex/Gender Education Forum, translator and director for the performance: The Vagina Monologue, a Chinese version. Documentaries jointly produced with Hu Jie are Tai Shi Cun, Painting for the Revolution- peasants paintings from HU County, China/em>, White Rainbow and The Vagina Monologue, Stories from China. The latter was selected in Women’s Films Festival organized by City University of New York as a side event of the United Nation’s 49th session of commission on the status of women.
