Synopsis

Yangjin and Wang Xiaobo, both fifth graders at elementary school, are best friends. Wang Xiaobo constantly brags about the river running through his hometown and the number of crabs and fish living in it. Then comes the long vacation after their graduation. Yangjin plans to visit Wang Xiaobo on his way to his grandmother's. He saves the money for his trip. After leaving a letter saying that he can manage the trip alone to his grandmother's, the two boys start their adventure. After realizing that staying in Wang Xiaobo's hometown is not as fun as expected, Yangjin gets anxious to leave for his grandmother's as soon as possible. But, as Yang's friend doesn't let him go, day by day his trip keeps getting postponed.

 

Director biography

Born in 1982, Yang Jin graduated with a degree in Film Education from the School of Art and Communication, Beijing Normal University. His film The Black and White Milk Cow (2004) won the Ecumenical Jury Award and the Don Quixote Prize at the 19th Fribourg International Film Festival and the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema Award in the 7th Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival. In 2008, his second feature film Er Dong earned a Special Mention in the New Currents section of the 13th Busan International Film Festival.
