Borrow Money is a story about a middle-aged man who becomes a drifter (Shen Guofeng) to escape the reality of his family's life. Shen lives in a fantasy of his own, often claiming to have "conversations" with various gods and goddesses, and that Buddha had given him a "dream" and instructed him to "serve the people wholeheartedly"! Shen Guofeng is in fact a metaphysician who lives in a fantasy. But can he truly escape from the mundane world? One summer in 2019, his daughter-in-law calls him from his hometown to ask for money to pay the rent, and he borrows ten thousand yuan to pay it.
